Fitness Pilates is a group exercise programme designed to enhance the posture, strength, balance and stability of a healthy adult. Fitness Pilates is based upon the teachings of Joseph Pilates who is the founder of Controlology, which he created and had a book published in 1934.
Contrology is the complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit. Through Contrology you first purposefully acquire complete control of your own body and through proper repetition of its exercises you gradually and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and coordination associated with your subconscious activities.
Through Contrology and Pilates based exercises, Fitness Pilates aims:
-Develop the body uniformly
-Corrects wrong posture
-Restores physical vitality
-Elevates the spirit
-Increases muscular balance and strength
-Improves Back and Core strength
This pilates technique focuses on strengthening the center by relearning the mind and body to recruit core muscles. Basic Pilates involves finding and maintaining the neutral position during standing, prone and supine position. This is done by:
-Contraction of the TA (transverse abdominal muscles) and pelvic floor.
-Maintaining stabilisation of the core muscles whilst being challenged by movements of the limbs.
-Increased flexibility of the lumber, thoracic and cervical spine.
We work on PREhabilitation rather than REhabilitation. We want to fix the problem before it occurs!
